Jimmy Monroe “J.J.” James, age 79, of 63 Beech St, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the NHC of Clinton after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
He was born in Whitmire, SC and was a son of the late Jesse James and Julia O’Shields James Connor.
Mr. James retired as a finish line supervisor at Anderson Hardwood Floors, he also worked as a painter with Jerry Campbell for many years; he was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, and veteran of the South Carolina National Guard. He attended the Lydia Mill Church of God. “J.J.” will be remembered as a fulltime comedian always making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife Becky Gregory James of the home; his two sons, Greg James and Lee James both of Clinton; his daughter, Tina James Steen of Whitmire; six grandchildren, J.C. King, Kayci Rikard, Ryan James, Emily James, Jordan James and Zach James; and nine great-grandchildren; and his pitbull, Zoey, affectionately referred to as his cow puppy.
He was the last surviving member of his family having been predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is also predeceased by a son Ronald “RJ” Lee James, a grandson, Shawn South, and a great-grandson Braxton King.
Graveside service will held Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11 AM at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Gray Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM.
