Joan Davenport Shealy

 Joan Davenport Shealy, age 94, widow of Jonas Darrell “Bill” Shealy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital.

 She was born May 12, 1930 in Clinton, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Joseph Cecil Davenport and Irene Trammell Davenport. Joan was the oldest of seven children.

 Joan is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Webb (Al) of Clinton, her sons, Darrell Shealy (Robin) of Charlotte, Brian Shealy (Mary Beth) of Clinton; her sisters, Pat Owens (Truman), Dianne Childress (Ed), Kathy Keadle (Glenn). She was lovingly known at “Nanny” to her thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. 

 In addition to her parents and husband, Joan is preceded in death by her brother, Ret. Col. Cecil O. Davenport, her sisters, Polly D. Boyce and Janice D. Cannon. 

 A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, February 13, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Clinton First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Blake Harwell and Rev. Jay Roland officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service in the sanctuary from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM. A private family burial will held at Pinelawn Memory Gardens and Mausoleum.

 The family will be at the home of Brian and Mary Beth Shealy, 182 Skyland Drive, Clinton, SC 29325.
