Joel Eugene "Ditler" Nelson

Joel Eugene “Ditler” Nelson, age 76 of 2927 Hwy.221South, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in Laurens.
He was born in Clinton, SC and was a son of the late Joe R. and Clarice Baker Nelson. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the U. S. Air Force as a TSGT having served in Vietnam. He was also retired from Presbyterian College as a Public Safety Officer.
Surviving are his wife, Audra Ione Alexander Nelson of the home, one son, Bruce Nelson and wife, Denise of Greenwood; two daughters, Teresa Nelson Irick and husband, Harry Von Irick of Ware Shoals and Norma Nelson Hovis and husband, Don of Ware Shoals; two brothers, Marvin Nelson and wife, Ruth and Roger Nelson and wife, Sara Lou all of Laurens; one sister, Elaine Nelson of Myrtle Beach; six grandchildren, Audra Irick, Heather Hovis, Hollie Nelson Davis, Morgan Hovis, Angie Hughes and Robbie Hughes; three great-grandsons, Coleman Davis, Logan Hughes and Karsen Hughes. Mr. Nelson was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Gary Nelson and Augustus Wayne Nelson.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton with burial in M. J. “ Dolly” Cooper VA Cemetery in Anderson with military honors.
The family will receive friends Thursday before the service from 12 to 1:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home.
