John J. Morris, age 89, widower of Ingeborg R. Morris, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at The Presbyterian Community of Clinton.
Born March 14, 1935 in Hazard County, KY, he was a son of the late Robert K. and Fannie F. Sellers Morris. Mr. Morris retired as Sergeant of the US Army after 20 years of service; having served in Vietnam. Following his time in the military, he served 20 years with the Department of Defense in Civil Service at Fort Jackson. John enjoyed camping, woodworking, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Beatrice Morris Ray (Ike) of Clinton, Patricia Morris of Columbia; his grandchildren, Raymond Morris (Katie), Michael Morris, Rosemarie Morris, Zac Ray (Carlee), Tad Ray (Courtney), Wes Ray, Taylor Morris, Aarron Morris (Amanda), and Caleb Morris; and his great-grandchildren, Ella Kate Morris, Maxwell Morris, Stetson John Ray, Kreed Morris and Carmella Morris; his brothers, Doug Morris of Paris KY, and Donald Morris of Dayton, OH; his sister, Diana Morris Tutt of Lexington, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and his wife of 65 years, he was preceded in death by his son, Patrick John Morris; and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with Rev. Justin Ritter officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, April 4, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home of Clinton.
