John Sterling Nolen Jr.

December 4, 1933 — September 10, 2019

John Sterling Nolen, Jr., age 85, of 335 Nolichucky Road, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood.
He was born in Lepanto, AR, and is son of the late John Sterling Nolen, Sr. and Evelyn Willie Miller Nolen. He was retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years as a Master Sergeant and then later retiring from the Burton Center in Greenwood, SC. He was also a member of the Waterloo United Methodist Church.
Mr. Nolen is survived by his wife, Katherine Nolen of the home; his two sons, John L. Nolen (Sandra) of Myrtle Beach, SC and David B. Nolen of Alaska; his daughter, Debra Ordway (Aaron) of PA; his brother and his three sisters; his granddaughter, Denise Ordway; step-grandchildren, Kathy Todd (Nelson), Stephen Merritt (Maggie); great-grandchildren, Karla Todd, Tyler and Lena Merritt.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his granddaughter, Angela Ordway.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 16, 2019 at 3 PM at the Waterloo United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Waterloo United Methodist Church, PO Box 30, Waterloo, SC 29384.
