John Curtis Davis

June 15, 1922 — March 3, 2007

John Curtis Davis, age 84 died Saturday, March 3rd at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson where he had lived the past two years.
He was born in Cross Hill on June 15, 1922, and was the last of eight children of the late Wallace Sherman Davis and Annie Belle Reeder Davis.
He was predeceased by his wife, Emma Kate Oxner Davis; four brothers: Frank, Richard, James and Everitt; and three sisters: Mabel Whiteford, Florence Davis and Wilma Graham.
Mr. Davis is survived by one daughter, Vivian Davis (Charles) Grice of Aiken; one granddaughter, Katie Grice (Brad) Hough of Aiken; one great granddaughter, Zoë Grace Hough of Aiken.
Mr. Davis was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Cross Hill where he had achieved the distinction of twenty-six years of perfect attendance in Sunday School and had been a deacon and faithful church member until his declining health. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Joanna Plant where he had worked for forty-five years. He was a proud US Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday, Mar. 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cross Hill with burial in the Cross Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
