Dateline-Whitmire, SC
Johnny Walter Arrowood age 86, devoted husband of Kate English Arrowood of 108 O’Dell St. passed away Saturday, Sept. 1st at the Laurens County Hospice House.
He was born in Whitmire, SC and was a son of the late George Allen and Daisy Sligh Arrowood.
Mr. Arrowood was employed at Carlisle Finishing Company for 20 years and retired from American Security. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Fraternal Order of Freemasonary for over 60 years and was the oldest living member of the Roseboro Masonic Lodge #195 of Whitmire.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 67 years are two sons; Rick Arrowood and wife, Pam of Whitmire and Tracy Arrowood and wife, Mary of Greenwood; grandchildren, Dennis Arrowood and wife, Pam, Tami Gilliam and husband, Billy and Miranda Arrowood all of Whitmire; great grandchildren, Ashley Arrowood, Will and Jacob Gilliam of Whitmire, Kyle Arrowood of Newberry and Raylin Vicars of Whitmire; great great grandchild, Brookellyn Arrowood of Whitmire; a sister, Annie Arrowood of White Oak Manor in Newberry; a brother, Grady Arrowood of Greenville; a special nephew, Ron English of Whitmire and a special friend in his last days, Teresa Holland of Columbia.
Mr. Arrowood was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 5th at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Whitmire by Rev. Shannon Long and Rev. Eddie Bledsoe and burial with Masonic Rites in the Whitmire Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be the members of the Roseboro Masonic Lodge #195.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home of Whitmire.
