John Peter (Pete) Schumpert, Sr.

April 24, 1920 — June 5, 2006

John Peter (Pete) Schumpert, Sr., age 86, of 1650 Blacksgate East, died Monday, June 5th in the Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.
He was born in Saluda County and was a son of the late George and Louise Yarborough Schumpert.
Mr. Schumpert was retired from the Greenwood Mills Blalock Plant in Joanna and was a member of Hickory Grove Christian Advent Church and later attended the First Baptist Church of Joanna. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Bledsoe Schumpert of the home; one son, John Pete Schumpert, Jr. and wife Becky of Prosperity; three daughters, Carolyn Lindler of Whitmire, Louise Dillard and husband Bobby of Whitmire, Judy Ann Moore of Simpsonville; three brothers, William Schumpert and Curtis Schumpert both of Saluda, Milton Schumpert of Columbia; one sister, Mary Ella Senterfit of Batesburg; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 7th at 3:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Joanna. The family will receive friends at Gray Funeral Home in Clinton Tuesday 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
