John Robert "Bob" Lewis

John Robert “Bob” Lewis, husband of Sara J. Lewis, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Self Medical Center in Greenwood.
He was born in Brantley County in southern Georgia, March 2, 1937 to Verdie Elizabeth Herrin Lewis and Leonard Carey Lewis, now deceased.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Dean Sanders and husband, James Edwin and their children, Benjamin Carey Sanders, Bonnie Lucille Sanders and James Edwin Sanders, Jr. He was preceded in death by one brother, one half-sister and three half-brothers.
He served his country in the U. S. Army as a cryptographer, working at the National Security Agency in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Lewis retired from W. R. Grace Company as Research Lab Supervisor. In his retirement he enjoyed salt-water fishing and gardening, when his health permitted. He also took great pleasure in caring for his Beagle, “Rocky”.
Graveside services were held on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Kathy Bostrom.
