John W. Prather
John W. Prather age 57, of 300 Country Lane, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in the Self Regional Healthcare.
He was born in Clinton and was the son of Thomas W. Prather of Clinton and the late Martha F. Prather.
Mr. Prather was a graduate of Piedmont Technical College.
He was the retired owner of Prather’s Auto and Truck Repair and was the owner of Prather’s Truck Rental in Clinton and Spartanburg.
John was a retired volunteer Firefighter for the city of Clinton and served for six years in the National Guard. He was also a member of Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Prather represented the state of South Carolina and won first place in the 1971 Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest.
Surviving are his wife, Joy Copeland Prather of the home; a son, Scott T. Prather and wife, Sharon of Clinton; a daughter, Melissa Prather Entrekin and husband, Andy of Clinton; a sister, Cecelia A. Prather of Clinton; four grandchildren, John Michael Entrekin, Anna Grace Entrekin, Mark Thomas Entrekin and Shanna Elizabeth Rose Prather.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Broad Street United Methodist Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
