Joseph Cullen McDaniel, age 92, of 500 Jacobs Hwy. died Monday, December 5th in the NHC of Clinton.
He was born in McCormick County and was the son of the late Nuel Warren and Fannie Mae Reese McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel was the former owner of Joe’s Exxon Station and College View Angus Farm; a member of the Brotherhood, deacon, and Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II where he was a POW from 2/17/1943 to 4/29/1945 and is a member of the American Legion; the Exchange Club, Emerald Chapter of POW, Clinton City Council and the Farm Bureau. He was a PFC, he fought and was captured in N. Africa in WW II and received the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Lalla Padget McDaniel of Clinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice M. and Donald W. Hicks of Rock Hill and a grandson, Andrew Hicks of Rock Hill.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Otis, Ben W., Hamp and Charley McDaniel and two sisters, Lois M. Coker and Lillian McDaniel.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 7th
at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center with interment in the Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
