Joyce Alexander Dallas, 78, resident of 265 Lee Cemetery Road, widow of James Sherrill Dallas, Sr., passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at her home.
She was born July 20, 1945 in Whitmire, SC and was a daughter of the late Walter Lewis and Amanda Collier Alexander. Joyce was a devoted member of Bethesda Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, leader of Children’s Church, Director of VBS, pianist, organist and active in all other church committees. She started a Coffee House in Whitmire for the youth. Joyce was a cosmetologist and enjoyed babysitting her grands, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She never met a stranger and loved telling others about the Bible and her love for Jesus.
Surviving are a son, James “Jimmy” Sherrill Dallas, Jr. (Laura) of Rock Hill; daughter, Sheryl “Sherry” Dallas Stevens (Richy) of Whitmire; six grandchildren, Meredith Campitiello (Joey), Jonathan Stevens (Christina), Hunter Dallas (Taylor), Chelsey Adams (Russell), Mikayla Dallas, and Casey Stevens; and two great grandsons, Maddux Stevens, and Joseph Campitiello; sister, Janie Lusk; brother, Johnny Alexander (Floree); special cousin that was like a brother, Gary Collier; sister-in-law, Pat Hendrix (Earl); she also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Garrett Dallas; and a brother-in-law, “Spud” Lusk.
The family would like to give special thanks to VIA Hospice for all their care and compassion; especially, Doris Shahid.
Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Whitmire with Rev. Todd Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will greet friends prior to the service from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
