Julia Johnson Sims Daniel, 79, widow of her beloved husband, Wayne Hamlet Daniel, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with multiple ailments.
Julia was born in Laurens County, South Carolina, and grew up in Hickory Tavern where she graduated from high school. A daughter of the late Blygh Johnson and Mary Elledge Johnson. Julia was a former employee of Laurens Glass and retired from the Waterloo Post Office.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Stacy Bly Sims Kight and her husband Richard (Rich); her sisters, Loretta Johnson Blakely and Mary Johnson Bryant; her stepdaughter, Selena Meredith Daniel; her beloved puppy, Peanut; and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as members of her late husbands' families, who will deeply miss her.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Randolph Sims, Jr.; her sisters, Norma Jean Johnson Grooms and Sarah Johnson Baumberger; and her first husband, Curtis Randolph "Randy" Sims, Sr.
Julia had a gentle, loving, kindhearted soul, and she loved and lived peacefully with a quaint, whimsical sense of humor. She was an intensely loyal mother, wife and friend. Her passion for other people, for animals, and for her beliefs was bountiful. She loved spending time with family and friends, all of whom she loved and cherished dearly. She also loved flowers, gardening, reading, history and cooking.
Julia was a true angel on earth, now in heaven, who brought love and joy to everyone she touched.
The family is planning no services at this time. In Julia's memory, call or visit a friend; share a story, a kind word and a laugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Laurens County Safe Home, Care of the Piedmont Hospice, the Laurens County Humane Society, or to any charity of your choice.
