Kathryn R. Smith, age 92, widow of Roy T. Smith, passed away at the Greenville Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 9, 2019.
She was born in Laurens County and was a daughter of the late Charles F. Rhodes and Laura Pauline Henderson Rhodes.
Mrs. Smith retired from Whitten Center and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Debbie Smith and Keith and Sally Smith; her daughter, Elaine and Peter Metzger; her daughter-in-heart, Betty Hembree; her brother, James Rhodes; her sister, Myrtice Rush; her eight grandchildren, Todd Smith (Brandi), Will Smith (Amy), Erica Kollitz (Jeff), Kallie Hallman (Luke), Matt Metzger, Jeff West, Mike West, and Brian Reid (Hollie); her six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Madison Smith, Tripp Smith, Taylor Smith, Gretchen Kollitz, and Kate Wilson Kollitz; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Cody.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy West; and her grandson, Baby Tommy Smith.
Visitation will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Debbie Smith, 5621 Highway 56 South, Clinton, SC 29325, on Sunday, August 11th, from 2 to 4 PM. A private memorial service will be held by the family later.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Laurens County, SC Humane Society, P. O. Box 1600, Clinton, SC 29325.
