Francis Keith McGee, age 87, of 178 NaPa Way in Clinton, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on August 25, 2018, the 68th anniversary of the day the Lord united him with Maudine Yarbrough McGee.
Born September 24, 1930 in Enoree, SC, he was the son of the late Orville Wright McGee and the late Lucille Kellett McGee Frady. Mr. McGee graduated from Woodruff High School and Presbyterian College. Having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he was employed by Clinton Mills for 40 years. While working second shift in the Lydia plant, he attended Presbyterian College as a day student and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration. He was then selected to help set up and operate the first Data Processing Department for Clinton Mills. He was Paymaster when he retired from Clinton Mills in 1986 at the ripe old age of 56. In addition to being a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he spent his long retirement years serving his church, working in his shop, and playing golf at the Rolling S Golf Course, which he enjoyed immensely. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he alternately and selflessly served as Superintendent of Sunday School, audio director, and as Church Treasurer for over 25 years.
Mr. McGee is survived by his wife, Maudine Yarbrough McGee of the home; his three children, Lynn M. Breedin (Bill) of Irmo, Stephen W. McGee (Phyllis) of Greenwood and Cyndi M. Ellison (Jimmy) of Clinton; three grandchildren, Clarie Breedin Jones (Brandon) of Blythewood, Graham McGee of St. Augustine, FL and Kelsey McGee of Bordentown’ NJ; and a great grandchild, Baylor Jones. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister Jolene McGee Holmgreen of Clinton, SC and his brother John Phillip McGee of Carson City, Nevada. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church at 3:00 PM with interment at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, August 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home of Clinton.
