Lawrence Darrell Brotherton

Lawrence Darrell Brotherton, age 89, of Boiling Springs, SC, husband of Barbara Ruth Brotherton, was called home to be with his Lord, Monday, September 23, 2024. 

A native of Whitmire, SC, Lawrence was the son of the late Jeff and Lita Brotherton, and the last surviving of his immediate family.

Lawrence retired from the Air Force and Spartanburg School District Seven. He earned degrees from both Georgia College and the University of South Carolina. He was a born-again member of Gateway Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and currently a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Darrell and his wife, Teri of Greer, SC, daughter-in-law, Amalia of Newton, NC; his daughter, Lynda and her husband, John Kay of Cedarbluff, AL; his grandchildren, Brigid, Darrell, Dennis, Damien, Linton, Bethany, and Andrew. 

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his son, Jeff. He also had a brother, Noblin and a daughter, Pamela Ruth, both who passed away in infancy.

The body will be placed in Liberty Baptist Church, Saturday, October 5, 2024, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12 noon with Rev. David Duncan of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Whitmire Cemetery at 3:00 PM.

Barbara currently resides at Lakewood Assisted Living and would welcome visitors, 3701 Clark Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
