Lillian Pearson Shell

August 17, 1925 — October 19, 2012

Lillian Joy Pearson Shell, age 87 of 117 Maplebrook and widow of Richard Griffin Shell, Sr. passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at the National Health Care of Laurens.
She was born in Wissinoming, PA and was a daughter of the late Harold Earl Pearson, Sr. and the late Doris Ellen Williams Pearson.
Mrs. Shell graduated from Laurens High School as valedictorian and attended Blue Mountain College in Mississippi for two years. After marrying Richard in 1948 she began her working career in bookkeeping at the Laurens Glass Plant and later as a legal secretary for McAlister, Compton, McAlister Law Firm. She was a long-time and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Laurens, where she had served as the Director of Christian Education, Director of the Youth and President of the United Methodist Women, she was also active with the American Cancer Society.
Surviving are two sons, Richard G. Shell, Jr. and wife, Mary of Laurens, George Allen Shell and wife, Lilliana of Lawton, OK; two daughters, Diane Hagen of Little Mountain and Margaret Plexico and husband, Harry of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Ryan Plexico, Marie Plexico, Allison Hagen, Lauren Hagen, Griffin Shell, Sutton Shell, Victoria Shell, Caroline Shell, Phillip Shell, Zac Shell; five brothers, Jimmy Pearson, Bobby Pearson, David Pearson, Johnny Pearson, Richard “Butch” Pearson; six sisters, Faith Autrey, June Collins, Charlotte Dominick, Edythe “Dee Dee” Madden, Arlene Davis, Sharon Brownlee.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Pearson, Jr. and Kenneth Pearson and two sisters, Doris Ellen “Dot” Gillin and Alice Nelson.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 21st at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Laurens by Rev. Alice MacKeil. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Laurens, P.O. Box 203, Laurens, SC 29360.
The family will be at the residence, 117 Maplebrook, Laurens, SC.
