Lillie “Bill” Stamey Adams, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 in the Wesley Commons Healthcare Center after a long illness.
She was born in Joe, N.C., a daughter of the late Tillman Forest and Callie Balding Stamey. She was the last surviving child of 20 children.
Mrs. Adams was a devoted wife to her husband of 59 years, Rev. Louis M. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were foster parents and worked with children throughout the state for many years. As the wife of a United Methodist Church minister, she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Lowell Street United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Adams was a loving mother of a son, the late Joseph Boyce Adams who was killed in action in 1968 while serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Adams and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Meadow Fork Community Cemetery in Hot Springs, N.C.
The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 from 6:00-7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Wesley Commons Healthcare Center in Greenwood, S.C.
