Lydie Holland Leake Hamer, age 92 and widow of Robert Pickett Hamer died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006.
She was born in Clinton and was a daughter of the late James William and Elizabeth Jane Constine Leake.
Mrs. Hamer attended Winthrop College and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was co-owner of The Tweed Shop for 20 years in Clinton and a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Actean Club.
Surviving are her four children, Elizabeth Jane Crandall of Pendelton, Robert C. Hamer of Greenville, Janet H. (Fred E. “Scooter”) Holcombe of Cary, NC, William L. (Marilyn Fryfogle) Hamer of Fairview, NC; seven grandchildren, Lea Hamer Crandall, Amy Crandall (Robert) Dowling, Fred Edward Holcombe, III, Joe Hamer (Emily Stone) Holcombe, Addison Elijah Hamer, E. McRae Hamer, Lincoln H. Hamer; four great grandchildren, Ian Alexander Dowling, Hamer Boman Holcombe, Adam Crandall Dowling, Simeon Stone Holcombe.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Leake King and one grandson, Robert P. Hamer.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. The Family will receive friends immediately following the service.
