Mack F. "Pappy" Nelson, Jr.

Mack F. “Pappy” Nelson, Jr. age 77, of Clinton, entered into Heaven on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.
He was born in Laurens County in 1934 and was the son of the late Mack and Julia Kate Nelson.
Pappy was retired from Milliken and loved helping others by serving as a volunteer for United Ministries and Carpenters for Christ.
We will most remember him as a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Nelson of the home; three daughters, Julia Fennell and husband Steve of Greenwood, Valerie Nelson and Maxine Coates, both of Clinton; four grandchildren, Todd Fennell, Jadie Coates, Kate Cheeks and husband Marcus, and Jack Wells; two great-grand children, Kailey and Khloe Cheeks; and a special granddaughter, Julie Wideman; his brother, J.T. Nelson; and a sister, Marie Handback.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Janis Wells.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 19th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
