Manuel Alvin Harrison

Manuel Alvin Harrison, age 92, entered into his heavenly home Sunday, September 1, 2019.
He was born in Joanna, SC, and was a son of the late Ralph Licene Harrison and Lucy Anna Flynn Harrison.
Mr. Harrison was very proud to have served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and as a Sergeant (ret.) in the SC National Guard with 34 years of service. He was a very active member of the Whitmire American Legion Post No. 70. Mr. Harrison was a former employee of J.P. Stevens, Whitmire Plant and was a retired employee of Whitten Center. He also worked with Kunkle Oil Company and with Leaman Oil Company.
Mr. Harrison’s legacy is a lifetime of service to his country, his community and his church. His life-long treasures were his family, friends, and his faith in God. Daily, he lived out his Christian faith and shared it with others. He especially enjoyed sharing vegetables he and his wife grew in their garden with family and friends.
Surviving are the love of his life, and wife of 63 years, Beatrice Trammell Harrison; two daughters, Rhonda Huggins (John) of Pomaria, Lisa Morris (Todd) of Newberry; one sister, Dalma Harrison Trammell of Whitmire; four grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Huggins, Leanna Marie Huggins Smith (Chris), Alexis Ann Morris, Nicholas Blake Morris and a great granddaughter on the way.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by four sisters, six brothers and a special niece.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 3:00 P.M. at the Heritage Wesleyan Church by Rev. Mark Stevenson, burial with Military Honors will follow in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the church.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude and thanks to Dr. Michael Bernardo, the staff of MSA Hospice, as well as special care givers Hattie and Marie with Glenda Houston Caregiver Service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heritage Wesleyan Church, 191 Broom St., Whitmire, SC 29178 or a charity of one’s choice.
The family will be at the residence, 63 James St., Whitmire, SC 29178.
