Marcie Sybil O’Shields Metts, age 89, of 119 James Road, and the widow of George Hubert Metts, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Hospice of Laurens County.
She was born in Joanna and was the daughter of the late William Ernest and Sara Lois Duckett O’Shields.
Mrs. Metts was a Postal Clerk/OIC in Joanna for 22 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a loyal volunteer of the Joanna Christ Central Food Bank, organizer of the Goldsville/Joanna Reunion for 25 years, and the Director of Community Service for Joanna.
She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Metts Williams, Kathy M. Beach (Jimmy) and Carolyn M. Wessel (Scott), all of Joanna; her brothers, Thomas O’Shields (Ann) of Joanna, John Earl O’Shields (Carolyn) of North Platte, NE; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Barron O’Shields, Audrey O. Kennington and Jerry O’Shields and a son-in-law Seth Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 3 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1 to 3 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Joanna Christ Central Food Bank.
