Margaret Martin Young (“Margo”), widow of Reese Henry Young, Sr., died peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her home in Clinton, South Carolina.
Born on October 30, 1926 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Margo was the daughter of the late Alfred Newman Martin and Margaret Hewitt Martin. After attending St. Mary’s School in Raleigh, Margo earned a degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at UNC, she served as president of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was a drum major in the marching band. While working as a secretary at Thornwell, she met her husband, Reese, and they raised three children together. In addition to being a devoted wife and loving mother, Margo was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, a supporter of Presbyterian College, and an avid Clemson fan. Her favorite memories included travels with her husband and vacations spent on Pawleys Island with her family. Margo is remembered for her genuine warmth, Southern graciousness, and positive outlook which remained steadfast during her 96 years of life.
Margo is survived by her two daughters, Julie Young Keadle and Jessie Margaret Young (“Jettie”), as well as her son Reese Henry Young, Jr., all of whom still live in Clinton. She is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, Margaret Keadle Rayford (Steven), Lee Asbury Keadle (Katherine), Thomas Eugene Keadle (Heather), and Mary Glenn Keadle (Anna). She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Gavin, Alyssa, Ava, George, Margo, and Gray.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of Clinton, located at 410 East Carolina Avenue in Clinton. The family will receive immediately following the in the church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of Laurens County, PO Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325, First Presbyterian Church of Clinton, PO Box 29, Clinton, SC 29325 or United Ministries of Clinton, 500 Academy St., Clinton, SC 29325.
