Marian Pitts Ramage

Marian Pitts Ramage, age 87, widow of David Franklin Ramage, died Thursday November 13, 2014. She was born in Clinton on May 16, 1927 and was the daughter of the late John Griffin Pitts, Sr. and Irene Adair Pitts.
Mrs. Ramage was a graduate of Clinton High School and Lander College. She was a lifelong member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and a career educator, guidance counselor, and coach. She was an avid tennis player. She played at Lander, represented South Carolina on the Senior Cup Team, and won a national gold medal at the Senior Olympics. In addition, she was active with United Methodist Women and Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary organization of women educators.
Surviving are two sons, David F. (Sara) Ramage of Clinton, John G. (Boo) Ramage of Clinton, and one daughter, Rena (Lee) Sherwood of Nashville, TN; five granddaughters, Adair (Phil) Roark of Summerville, SC, Kate (Mark) Stewart of Charlotte, NC, Laurie (Joseph) Dyches of Travelers Rest, SC, B.J. Ramage of Charleston, SC, and Emily Sherwood of Greeneville, TN, and two great grandchildren, Chandler and Charlie Roark of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by a sister, Martharene Pitts McMillin of Atlanta, GA.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Joyce Pitts Holcomb and Peggy Pitts Reddeck, and one brother, John Griffin Pitts, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday, November 15th at Gray Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 16th at Broad Street United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Rosemont Cemetery. The family will be at the home of John G. Ramage, 1656 Old Milton Road, Clinton.
