Martha Plemmons

Martha Plemmons “Granny”, age 80, passed away, Thursday December 30, 2021, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Newberry County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Michael and Ellen Oxner Jenkins.
Mrs. Plemmons was a former employee of Springs Industries in Lancaster, SC for over 25 years. She later relocated to Whitmire and retired from Farmer’s Mutual at the age of 79. She attended Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church. ”Granny” enjoyed a simple life that included gardening, canning, baking and spending time reading her daily devotional but most important to her was her family she cherished.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Plemmons (Rhea) and Gregory Gilmore (Kathleen) both of Whitmire; her daughters, Rhonda Ebersole (Steve) of Heath Springs and Cynthia Deese of Whitmire; her brothers, Elmer Jenkins and Dutch Jenkins of Whitmire, and her sister, Frances Adams of Union; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Plemmons was predeceased by her husband, Rodney Plemmons, her sister, Ruthie Garner and her brother Vernon Jenkins.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 4th, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Whitmire. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Whitmire Fire Department and Rescue Squad, C/O Whitmire Townhall, 95 Main Street, Whitmire, SC 29178.
