Mrs. Treadwell was born in Horry County, SC, to Mary Elizabeth (Billie) and Sloan Todd. She grew up and finished high school in Clinton, SC, where she was named “Most Talented” in her senior class. She was a graduate of Erskine College and taught school three years before beginning her family. During the children’s early years, the family lived in Columbia, SC, and then moved to Auburn, AL, in 1982.
She is survived by her devoted husband Stan Treadwell, of Auburn, and her three loving sons: Dr. Karl Barnett (Mary) of Athens, GA; Mark Barnett (Claire) of Greenville, SC; Luke Barnett (Anna), of Greenville, SC and their father Dr. Andy Barnett of Auburn; daughter Michelle Merrill (John) of Rio Rancho, NM; seven grandchildren Hannah, Owen, Catherine, Gray, and Lucy Barnett; Jordan and Carrie Merrill – all the crowning jewels of her life; three sisters Ruth Shealy, Carolyn Swartzentruber, and Jenny Hardin.
Mrs. Treadwell was employed by Auburn University for 15 years. She has been a member of First Presbyterian Church of Auburn, for over 30 years, where she served as a faithful choir member, VBS director, Sunday school teacher, elder, and trustee. She found great meaning in her SPF Bible Study Group and was a regular volunteer at the Community Market.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Auburn on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 3:30. A reception will follow. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Rosemont Cemetery in South Carolina. Donations may be made to Community Market of the Food Bank of East Alabama or to First Presbyterian Church of Auburn.
