Martha Burdette Finley
May 16, 1918 — December 30, 2009
Martha Burdette Finley, age 91, formerly of New Prospect Church Rd. and widow of Henry L. Finley, Sr. died Wednesday, December 30th, 2009.
She was born in Laurens County and was a daughter of the late Willie Wells and Nina Lee Burdette.
Mrs. Finley was retired from Torrington Bearing Company and was a former employee of Laurens Hosiery Mill. She was a member and former Sunday School Teacher at New Prospect Baptist Church. Mrs. Finley loved caring for her home and gardening.
Surviving are one son, Henry “Hank” L. Finley, Jr. and wife, Kay of Bristow, VA; one daughter, Brenda F. Mitchell and husband, Tommy of Saluda; one sister, Doris Eidson of Laurens; five grandchildren, Trent Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Rob Mitchell, Giff Finley, Merilynn Finley and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will greet friends following the service.
The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4996 Hwy 221 South, Laurens, SC 29360.
