Martha Cannon McCoig, age 74 died Friday, June 15th at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. She was the widow of Cecil H. McCoig . She was the daughter of Ben Capers and Zonnie Nix Cannon.

Martha was born and lived most of her life in Clinton. She worked at Whitten Center and Clinton Mill, Lydia Plant. She moved to Charlotte, NC in 1999 and later to North Augusta, SC where she was a member of 1st Baptist Church.

A devout Christian, she served as Choir Member and Sunday School teacher, touching the lives of many, including her family.
Her principles of service to others, particularly children, led her to volunteer as a foster grandparent, loving and mentoring children at Merriweather School

She is survived by a son, Roger Allen McCoig and his wife, LuVin McCoig of Clarks Hill; a daughter, Teresa Jane Wegmann, two grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Wegmann and John Anthony Hison Wegmann of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Ida Baldwin of Laurens and Zonie Belle Jenkins of Hickory Tavern.
The family will receive friend Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Gray Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
