Mary Amaya (Adair) Baker, age 71 of Monroe, GA, passed away at home with family on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Born and raised in Clinton, SC, she is preceded in death by her father, Robert Christopher Adair, JR; mother, Rachel (Ferguson) Adair; brother, Robert Christopher Adair III; and husband of 33 years, George Amaya. Mary graduated from Clinton High school in 1971, briefly attended Winthrop University, and later graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. She was a devoted and supportive wife and mother. She worked alongside her husband at Cherokee Town Club in Atlanta, GA for over 20 years as the Tennis Pro Shop Retail Buyer. Mary loved South Carolina beaches, reading, traveling, playing doubles tennis, and horseback riding. She’ll be remembered for her gentle nature, caring heart, and love of dogs.
Mary is survived by her former husband of 15 years, William (Bill) Lisman Baker III of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine (Katie) and Jeremy McCurdy of Monroe; grandchildren, Finn McCurdy, Connor McCurdy, and Dylan McCurdy; nieces, Christina Adair and Chantal Adair; and numerous brother-in laws, sister-in laws, family and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 670 Tom Brewer Road, Loganville, GA 30052.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Rosemont Cemetery, 807 Willard Road, Clinton, SC.
