Mary Edith Carter age 86, of 124 Fair Drive and widow of Gerald Carter, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 in the NHC of Clinton.
Born in Anderson, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Charles and Vallie Lee Wright Vermillion. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker, a member of Davidson Street Baptist Church, and a former member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Carter is survived by one daughter, Ginger Lee Carter Simmons and her husband, Tommy, of Joanna; grandchildren, William Scott Simmons and wife, Christy, of Union, Michael Simmons and fiancée, Michelle King, of Laurens, and Laura Lee Simmons Riddle and husband, Paul, of Newberry. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Amber Lee Ann Simmons and Hunter Alexander Simmons; and step great-grandchildren, Alex Moore and Chance Crocker, all of Union; as well as nieces, Connie Hayes and Kay Vermillion, and nephews, Dan Vermillion and Carl Vermillion, Jr., all of Anderson
She was predeceased by her brothers, Carl Vermillion and Howard Vermillion, and her sister, Claudia Davis.
A graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memory Gardens on Monday, November 12th at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
