Mary Elizabeth Francis Lehman, age 89, and widow of George Edward Lehman, U.S. Air Force, died May 25, 2016 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens, SC.
She was born in Joanna, SC, and the daughter of the late Rufus and Robbie Belle Francis.
Mrs. Lehman is survived by her two grandsons, Stephen Edward Lehman, Jr. (Leslie) of Pasadena, Calif., and Ben Talmadge Lehman (Lindsay) of Charlotte, NC; three great-grandchildren, Darby, Dexter, and Delaney Lehman of Pasadena; and a very special daughter-in-law, Patsy Lackey of Spartanburg.
She is predeceased by her son, Stephen Edward Lehman of Spartanburg, a sister, Faye Vasen, and nephew, Don Vasen, both of Chicago, Illinois.
Mrs. Lehman worked in the Public Relations Department of the Alumni Office at Presbyterian College for 33 years. The Mary F. Lehman Service Award, which honored her longtime service to the Public Relations Dept., is award to the PC Alumnus or Alumna each year with outstanding meritorious service rendered to Presbyterian College and the Alumni Association.
Mrs. Lehman was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton for many years, and served as teacher of the Faith Sunday School Class for 40 years. In addition to service to her church, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Gold Star Wives fo America.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 1 at 3 PM the First Baptist Church in Clinton. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service at the church.
