Mary Jean Knight Timmerman, 94, widow of Eugene Murphey Timmerman, died Monday, July 1, 2024.
Born in Greenville County on April 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Robert Arnold and Mary Jane McKittrick Knight. She graduated from Honea Path High School and attended Limestone College. She was employed with Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority for thirty-five years.
Mrs. Timmerman was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Surviving are daughter, Jane Timmerman Ames of Florence, South Carolina, son Eugene Murphey Timmerman (LaWana) of Clinton, South Carolina. Two grandchildren: Mary Murphey Ames Hyman (Jason) of Florence, South Carolina and Herbert Floyd Ames, Jr. (Katharine) of Atlanta, Georgia. Four great grandchildren Jean Chandler Hyman, Jane McKittrick Hyman, both of Florence, Thomas DeWitt Ames and Elizabeth Waters Ames, both of Atlanta.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2 PM at Broad Street United Methodist Church to be conducted by Rev. Justin Ritter and Rev. Steve Keck. The family will greet friends following the service in the Cunningham Center.
She was predeceased by sister, Betty Sue Knight Baldwin and brothers Allen M. Knight and Dr. Roland M. Knight.
