Mary H. Ray, age 95 and widow of I.O. “Shirt” Ray went home to be with her father on January 5, 2007.
She was born on November 25, 1911 in Edgefield, SC and was a daughter of the late C.V. and Mattilee Schenks Holmes.
Mrs. Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton and in her later years enjoyed attending the Life Spring Community Church in Simpsonville. Before her retirement as an RN she worked many years at Whitten Center.
Surviving are her son, Jim Ray and wife Phyllis of Simpsonville; a granddaughter Danielle and a friend Michelle; sisters, Louise Collins of Columbia, Alva Jackson and Francis Collum both of Edgefield and Edith Petty of Clover.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Cornelia Taylor, Effie Richardson, Ruby Johnson and Dorothy Hazel.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 9th at 2:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
