Mary Lewis Madden, age 80 of 607 Musgrove St. and widow of Andrew “Mack” Bradford Madden went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Anderson County and was a daughter of the late John Leland and Lettie Elizabeth Moore Lewis.
Mrs. Madden was a skilled seamstress and her family and friends have enjoyed her handmade quilts and crochet gifts. She was known for her “green thumb”,frying apple pies for Relay for Life, participating in Red Hat fun and cooking for shut-ins for 10 years for the Madden family’s Thanksgiving project..
She is survived by her children: Ann (Billy) Simpson, Robbie (Danny) South, Carolyn (Joseph) Sease, John (Debi) Madden, and adopted daughter, Elaine Reynolds Hester; a brother, Henry Lewis of Anderson, two sisters, Dorothy Shaw of Athens, GA and Louise Blume of Iva, SC. Grandchildren include Jeff (Lynn) Wilkie, Tim (Julie) Wilkie, Brad (Melissa) South, Lori (Rob) Stout and Angela Julian; great-grandchildren include David, Madelyn, CatherineWilkie, Andrew Wilkie, and Ethan Stout.
She was predeceased by brothers, Charlie Lewis, J. L. Lewis and Ansel Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 23rd at 11:00 A.M. at the Little River Presbyterian Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of Robbie and Danny South, 511 Dogwood Circle, Clinton, SC.
