Mary Tate Kirby, age 84, of 109 Brittany Road and widow of Johnnie R. Kirby died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her home.
She was born in Caroleen, N.C., raised in Pacolet Mills and was the daughter of the late Rev. W.T. and Dovie Sparks Tate.
Mrs. Kirby was a 1947 graduate of the Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nursing Degree.
She was a Baptist by faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice K. Kelsey of Pickens and Debbie Ackerman of Clinton; two sons, Phil Kirby and David Christopher Kirby both of Gaffney; 8 grandchildren, Jimmy Kelsey, John Kelsey, Phillip Kirby, Adam Kirby, Jennifer Beverly, David Ackerman, Michael Ackerman and David Kirby; also 8 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, Bill Kirby and Mike Kirby.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
