Melissa Mars Hood

Dateline-Whitmire, SC

Melissa Mars Hood age 33, of 74 Tidmarsh Dr., passed away Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Newberry, SC and was a daughter of the late Grant and Rebecca “Becky” Revels Mars.
Melissa was an RN employed with Fresenius Medical Care where she loved working with and taking care of the dialysis patients in their Newberry and Columbia offices, she also had worked at the Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Melissa truly enjoyed doing yard work and gardening in her flowers and spending time outdoors with her dogs, but her greatest joy was taking care of her loving husband and their beautiful children.
She is survived by her husband, Jason Hood, their four children, Samantha age 12, Lil Jason age 4 and twins, Ethan and Sarah age 3; her sister, Elizabeth Mars Martin and husband, Quinn and her niece, Payton Martin all of Simpsonville and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Louise Revels of Whitmire.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Wilton Mars.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Whitmire conducted by Rev. Kenny Weaver.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon at the church from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to a trust for her children; Melissa’s Children Trust, c/o First Citizens Bank, 200 Main St., Whitmire, SC 29178.
