Melvin "Bear" Gilstrap

Melvin “Bear” Gilstrap, age 66, of 3740 Neely Ferry Road, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Laurens County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Easley, SC and was a son of the late Leonard Edward and Lois Horton Gilstrap.
Mr. Gilstrap was retired from the Local Union 421, where he was a welder and pipe fitter. He was a member and trustee of Aiken Community Church in Aiken, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Gilstrap; his sons, Joey Gilstrap and Wayne Simmons; his daughters Malena Gilstrap, Felicia Simmons-Mohamed and Chastity Ott; his brother, Steve Gilstrap; his sisters, Denean Cauble, Eloise Avery and Gail Millwood, and four grandchildren, Austin Spencer, Matthew Gilstrap, Tiffany Spencer and Kyler Simmons.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 7th at 2 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home.
