Melvin Sinclair, Sr. age 87 of 112 Railroad Avenue passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at his son and family’s home in Greenville, SC where he had lived for the past year.
He was born in Whitmire, SC and was the son of the late William Frank and Gertrude Roddy Sinclair.
Mr. Sinclair served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and loved to share his stories. He retired after 18 years from Charles E. Smith Management in Alexandria, VA.
He is survived by a son, Melvin Sinclair, Jr. and his wife, Lynne Gregory Sinclair; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Mike and Kim, Liam, Aidan and Hope; Thomas and Jenna, Charlie, William and a boy on the way; and Kimberly, Kailey and Bryson and his best canine friend, Molly.
Papa will be forever missed by his family and they will cherish the memories.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marian Whisonant Sinclair and infant daughter, Virginia Gail, four sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 31st at 4:00 p.m. at the Heritage Wesleyan Church in Whitmire.
The family will receive friends before the service at 3:00 p.m. at the Church.
