Merle H. Gambrell

Merle H. Gambrell, age 76 of 588 Lick Creek Rd., died Wednesday, December 28th in the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Center.
He was born in Laurens and was a son of the late Marvin Lee and Cora Lee Knight Gambrell.
Mr. Gambrell was retired from the Winn Dixie in Woodruff, with 25 years as Manager; was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurens where he was a Sunday School and Training Union Teacher; he taught youth activities in Woodruff and was a member and Past President of the Lions Club.
Surviving are two sons, Steven C. Gambrell of Woodruff and Barry Gambrell of Henderson, NV; one daughter, Beth Chandarana of Inman, five grandchildren, Brad Gambrell, Lee Gambrell, Robert Gambrell, Amber Chandarana and Peyton Chandarana; three great-grandchildren, Noah Fuller, Jessie Fuller and Mercedes Gambrell and a special friend, Harriett Atkinson of Laurens.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 31st at 11:00 a.m. in Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Laurens with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home in Laurens.
