Mertis Rhodes Birchmore, age 68, of 90 Rhodes Drive died Sunday, February 12th at her home.
She was born in Laurens County and was the daughter of the late David and Alice Smith.
Mrs. Birchmore was retired from Clinton Mills, Lydia Plant, was a Baptist by faith and volunteered with Hospice of Laurens County.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth A. Rhodes of Clinton; a step-son Terry L. Rhodes of Sanford, NC; a step-daughter, Barbara Bowling of Simpsonville; two brothers, Emmett L. Smith of Ninety Six and Cleve C. Smith of Greenville; two sisters, Robbie Waters of Clinton and Ginger Lee King of Toccoa, GA, also two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was the widow of Luther Rhodes and Frank Birchmore and was predeceased by a step-son, Jerrel Rhodes, brothers, David Smith and Cecil Smith and sisters, Opal Woodward and Mauldine Rowe.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home with interment in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
