Michael "Dale" Knight

 Michael “Dale” Knight, age 72, of Laurens, passed away at his home on Monday, October 21, 2024. 

 He was born in Laurens, South Carolina and was the son of the late Thomas Jesse (Jack) Knight and Florence Hopkins Knight. Dale retired from JTEKT with combined service from Torrington and Timken of 46 years. He was an avid golfer winning several trophies, a Shriner, a sports photographer for The Advertiser and Torrington Paper and a NASCAR official even winning a NASCAR ring. Dale never married but was very close to his niece and nephew and their children. 

 Dale is survived by his sister, Martha Hartline (Claude); his nephew, Timothy L. Hartline ( Mandi); his niece, Elizabeth Macht; his great-nephews, Raymond Macht and TJ Hartline; his great-nieces, Morgan Christian, Jordan Hartline and Emily Macht. 

 In addition to his parents, Dale is predeceased by his brother, James Thomas (Boot) Knight. 

 Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Wyatt, Rev. Ervin Stutzman and Rev. Ben Rumph officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

 The family will be at the home of his sister, Martha Hartline.
