Mildred Jones Davis went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the age of 91 at the Laurens County Hospital. She was born in Clinton on September 3, 1920.
During her life she worked in Tennessee on the “Manhattan Project”, Clinton Mill, Anderson Hosiery Plant, The Clinton Café, several other restaurants, her most fulfilling jobs were helping to care for the elderly at several different facilities. One of the things that brought her much pleasure was helping with the Foster Grandparent Program when it was just beginning. She worked as a Foster Grandparent at Eastside Elementary School and Thornwell School. However, her most important role was that of a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother. She showed Gods’s love through everything she did whether it be making biscuits or simply giving you a smile with a twinkle in her beautiful brown eyes. She was a living example of God’s unconditional love, understanding, peace and strength.
She joins in heaven her loving husband, George Walker Davis, 10 of her brothers and sisters and her parents.
She is survivied by a daughter Phyllis Kramm and husband, Bohdan, of Clinton, three grandchildren, Terri Motes and husband, Mason of Clinton, Lynn Pierce of Charleston, Jay Pierce, Jr. and wife, Heidi of Florida, four great-grandchildren, Susan Bentley and husband, Brandon of Myrtle Beach, Ben Motes of Clinton, Meredith White of Greenville and Megan Gwinn of Charleston; four great-great grandchildren, Bryce and Morgan Bentley of Myrtle Beach and Cameron and Jaidyn White of Greenville and a sister, Louise Webb of Florida.
There will be a graveside service at 4:30 pm Wednesday, Nov. 23rd in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
