Mildred Tompkins Rice

Mildred Tompkins Rice age 83, of 260 Ben Lanford Road, Waterloo died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at her home.
She was born in Cateechee, SC and was a daughter of the late Rupert and Bettie Allsep Tompkins.
Mrs. Rice was retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of the Eastern Star and Fairview Baptist Church. She was a care giver, crafter, seamstress, square dancer, and a great cook.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter Rice, Sr. of the home; two sons, Walter (Butch) Rice of Goose Creek, and John Rice and wife, Linda of Laurens; two daughters, Dianne Rice of Greenville, and Deneaer Curry and husband, Dale of Waterloo; a sister, Joann Brown of Edenton, NC, a grandchild, Jennifer Rice Fogle and husband, Carl; two great-grandchildren, Christa Evans and Landon Fogle; and a special dog, Quad.
She was predeceased by a grandson, John David Rice, Jr.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers and the caregivers at the Self Regional Home Health and Hospice of Greenwood.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at
11:00 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Greenwood or the Humane Society.
