Milford Smith, age 92, of 505 S. Johnson Street, and a long time resident of Clinton, SC, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Peachtree Centre in Gaffney.
He was born in Mountville, SC and was a son of the late Clyde F. Smith Sr., and Virginia Lee Nelson Smith.
Mr. Smith attended Wofford College and was a graduate of Presbyterian College; was a US Army Veteran of WWII and was retired from the SC National Guard as a captain; a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church of Clinton, an associate member of Buford Street United Methodist Church in Gaffney and was a past president of the Clinton Lions Club. He was a loving care giver to his family and friends and a great lover of animals.
He is survived by his son Barry Milford Smith and his daughters Libby Smith Ruff and Gale Smith Jackson, all of Gaffney; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Clyde F. Smith, Jr. and Roy Thomas Smith, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11th at 3 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with burial in Mountville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, before the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
