Miriam Donnan Chapman, age 87 (formerly of Laurens County,) the widow of Quinton Lafayette Chapman, died Sunday, May 18th in Charleston, SC.
She was born in Clinton, SC and was the daughter of the late James Hugh and Mollie Davidson Donnan, and the sister of the late Joseph D. Donnan.
Mrs. Chapman was a graduate of Presbyterian College and taught for thirteen years in several Laurens County schools and Thornwell Home for Children. She was a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Charleston where she served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Editor of the church newsletter for many years. She attended the Mountville Baptist Church, was a member of the Henry Laurens Chapter of the DAR, and was a member of the Colonial Dames of America.
Surviving are: John Mason Chapman (son) and wife, Jenny Hair Chapman of Daphne, AL; Jane Chapman Wright (daughter) and husband, Paul David Wright of Goose Creek, SC; James Lafayette Chapman (son) of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Leah Wallen Wright, Aaron Wesley Wright, and Hollis Bayley Chapman.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, May 21st at 1:00 pm at the Mountville Presbyterian Church Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm in the Mountville Baptist Church.
