Nancy Estelle Delk Simmons age 98, a longtime resident of Clinton and widow of Victor E. Simmons passed away Thursday March 6th in the National Healthcare in Clinton.
She was born in Pearson, Georgia on December 9, 1909 and was a daughter of the late William Delk and Lillie Gaskin Delk Davis.
Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church. She was also an associate member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Greenville.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. John (Inez) Drummond of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. James (Jean) Putnam of Simpsonville, Mrs. John (Nancy) Bell of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Toby (Barbara) Hunter of Greenville, and Mrs. Jim (Joyce) Farmer of Spartanburg; sixteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred Davis and Jesse Davis both of Florida.
Mrs. Simmons was predeceased by her two sons, James “Eddie” Simmons and Ralph V. Simmons; and one grandson, Dennis Eugene Simmons.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 9th at 4:00 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the committal service in Hodges Hall at the Church from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
