Nancy Juanita Culbreth Gilliam of 301 Reedy Fork Rd., Laurelwood, Laurens, SC died Thursday, June 18, 2009.
Mrs. Culbreth was born on April 28, 1934 in Spartanburg, SC. She was the daughter of the late Lynn Louis and Pauline Elizabeth Padgett Culbreth.
Juanita will be fondly remembered for her beautiful smile, her gracious ways and her love of the Lord. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church and the Ruth Casey Sunday School Class. Juanita dedicated much of her time to her church, her many friends, neighbors and especially her beloved family. She will long be cherished as a loving wife, mother, a wonderful “Granny” to her grandsons.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Clay Shealy Wise and is survived by their sons, Clay Phillip Wise and his wife, Kathy Louise and Mark Allen Wise of Laurens.
She was also predeceased by her husband, Frank Morris Gilliam and is survived by their daughter, Vickie Lynn Gilliam Nicely and three grandsons, Joshua Adam of Shallotte, NC, Jonathan Michael Rhodes and Lynn Culbreth King of Laurens, her sister, Shelvie Culbreth Belser and her brother-in-law Guy Matthews Tarrant, Jr. of Columbia, and a very special friend, Charles Reese of Laurens.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at
St. James United Methodist Church, 101 Richards Street, Laurens, with visitation to follow in the church. Burial will be private.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care given by Loretta Jones and Fannie Henderson as well as a special thanks to the staff at Hospice House of Laurens.
