Nina Mitchell Monroe, age 78, of 202 Blakely Ave. and widow of George Paul Monroe died Monday, April 3rd at the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center. .
She was born in East La Porte, NC and was the daughter of the late Thomas Ervin and Nanny Elizabeth Wheatly Mitchell.
Mrs. Monroe was retired from the Laurens School District #55 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three daughters Paula Ann Monroe of Taylors, Marcia Kay Monroe of Laurens, Crystal M. Frye and her husband, Skip of Spartanburg; one son, Kenneth Ray Monroe and his wife, Terry Lamb of Burke, VA; one brother, Ray Mitchell of Florida; five grandchildren, Ramsey L. Monroe, Mitchell K. Monroe, Kaley P. Frye, Meredith M. Frye and William Cody Frye.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Glenn Mitchell, Darrell Mitchell and Anson Mitchell and one sister, Pauline Mitchell.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 5th at 10:30 a.m. in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Laurens.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
