O. Gene Smith, age 79 of 4287 Saw Mill Road, died Tuesday, March 10th in the Hospice of Laurens County Hospice House in Clinton.
He was born in Warren, Ohio and was a son of the late Nathan A. and Mary Belle Hudson Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in 1948; a sales agent for Prudential Insurance Agency; a member of First United Methodist Church of Laurens, and a life member of the Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Children Services Board, Kent State University Board, YMCA Board, Trumbull County Mental Health Board and an Army Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene Smith of the home, two sons, William G. Smith and Aaron G. Smith both of Warren, Ohio, a stepson, Gary B. Ishman of Orwell, Ohio; four daughters, Vera J. Kelly, Ethel M. Solida, Marsha B. Honsaker all of Warren, Ohio, and Karon M. Noble of Gray Court; a stepdaughter, Kim McDonald of Gray Court; two brothers, Nathan Smith and Bernard Smith and one sister, Pauline Patmon; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Norman Smith and John A. Smith and one sister, Louise Cook.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Laurens.
