Pauline Hartsell “Polly” McKee Parker of 300 Jacobs Hwy, Apt 101, Clinton, SC, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012.
She was born in Starr, North Carolina, Mrs. Parker was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul Gamaliel Hartsell and Fannie Bragg Hartsell.
Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Brevard, NC High School, Mars Hill College, and Winthrop College.
She was a former teacher at Hampton Avenue School and Clinton Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a popular soloist and member of the choir and served as president of her Sunday School class. She was a member of ADK Honorary Teachers’ Sorority and was presently a member of the Fidelis Teachers’ Sorority. Mrs. Parker was an active member of the Clinton Music Club, the Clinton Community Chorale, and the Laurens County Community Concert Association for many years. She was an amateur artist and had her work shown in several local art exhibits. For many years, Mrs. Parker was a member of the Laurens County Arts Council.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband, Joe Paris Parker; her sister, Caroline McCauley of Greer; her brother, Charles Hartsell of Taylors, her sons James Duffie McKee III and wife Shirley Ann of Myrtle Beach, John Paul McKee and wife Helen of Rock Hill, Frank Hartsell McKee of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter –in-law, Harriet McKee Hart of Clinton, and seven grandchildren, James Duffie McKee IV, John Paul McKee, Jr., Lucien Ellis McKee, Jr., William Kelly Thomas, Karen Jeanette McKee and Charles Hartsell McKee; one step daughter and her husband Patricia Parker Roth and Ben Roth.
She was predeceased by her first husband James Duffie McKee, a brother, Dr. Harold M. Hartsell, a daughter, Julia McKee Thomas, a son, Lucien Ellis McKee, and a grandson, Brian Anthony McKee.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 16th at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Clinton by Rev. Dr. Russell Dean and Rev. Dr. Blake Harwell.
After the memorial service the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
